Essential Question:
How did Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism influence political rule in ancient China?
GOALS:   
To learn about the three philosophies that came out of the Warring States Period and to understand how this instability led to schools of thought.

Essential Questions: 
  • How can a poem express anger and sadness to help make sense of a troubling situation?
  • How can I brainstorm the details of my topic from my memory?  
  • Can I capture sensory details from the experience, event, or person to help me communicate my feelings about it?

Goals

  • To think about the way poems can help those who write them as well as those who read them.
  • To continue brainstorming as many details as I can about my topic from my Heart Map
Agenda

  • Poem:  Footsteps to Follow and America
  • Benediction:  Something you can do as a poet is express your own strong emotions about a situation that troubles you:  use a poem to help you capture, define, and get some control over what hurts.
  • Sample poems from a Heart Map
  • Brainstorm/drafting
Optional homework: Take home your composition book, set the time for 20 minutes and WRITE :)

Students take a quiz as they finish each book.   At end of March of students who complete the program will receive 5 points of extra credit from me :). All quizzes should be completed by Friday, March 23 to be eligible for the voting parties to be held in the library during both lunches, Wednesday, March 28.
